{"id":357,"date":"2016-05-28T09:52:00","date_gmt":"2016-05-28T07:52:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/itso.dk\/?p=357"},"modified":"2016-09-09T11:52:00","modified_gmt":"2016-09-09T09:52:00","slug":"ubuntu-network-device-not-managed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blog.itso.dk\/?p=357","title":{"rendered":"Ubuntu &#8211; Network device not managed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While putting Ubuntu 16.04 on my PXE install\/nfs \u00a0server, I found that after an install, I was unable to my onboard NIC working through Network-Manager.<\/p>\n<p>After digging a little around the net, I found this thread:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/askubuntu.com\/questions\/71159\/network-manager-says-device-not-managed\">askubuntu tread<\/a><\/p>\n<p>To fix the problem, you need to edit\u00a0\/etc\/NetworkManager\/NetworkManager.conf, and replace &#8220;managed=false&#8221; with &#8220;managed=true&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Instead of using a normal editor, I want to use &#8220;sed&#8221; command:<\/p>\n<pre>sudo sed -i.bak s\/false\/true\/g \/etc\/NetworkManager\/NetworkManager.conf\r\nsudo systemctl restart NetworkManager<\/pre>\n<p>If other devices appears in Network manager, they may be set in \/etc\/network\/interfaces<\/p>\n<p>Delete all content of \/etc\/network\/interfaces<\/p>\n<p>and insert:<\/p>\n<pre>auto lo\r\niface lo inet loopback<\/pre>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Now you should see you NIC in NetworkManager<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>While putting Ubuntu 16.04 on my PXE install\/nfs \u00a0server, I found that after an install, I was unable to my onboard NIC working through Network-Manager.
